  • Fencing Instructor-– New Bedford - Part-Time
    General Functions:
    Supervise, instruct and lead members and guests for the New Bedford YMCA in such a way as to ensure a safe, positive, educational and healthy experience in the sport of fencing.

    Entry Requirements:  Must have knowledge, understanding and experience of the fast paced and athletic sport of fencing.  Must have knowledge of all equipment pertaining to fencing.  Applicant must have their own equipment.

  • Active Older Adult Group Exercise Instructor - PT - Fall River, Westport, Somerset
    General Function:    Leading seniors in low-impact dance class at our various off-site locations located in Fall River, Westport and Somerset.

  • YMCA Drama Enrichment Intructor – PT – Dartmouth
    General Requirements:  The Drama Enrichment Instructor will be responsible for developing, supervising and organizing a creative program based on the art of the dramatic experience.

    Qualifications:  The candidate must have the ability to teach the creative art that is drama.  The candidate should have a sound understanding of the YMCA’s purpose, philosophy and practice.  Classes will meet 4 days a week from 3:00PM to 4:30PM at local elementary schools in Dartmouth.

    Entry Requirements: The person selected for this position must be professionally prepared as a teacher of young children, especially in the field of early childhood education or development, and must be ECC Certified. This person must be a sensitive and mature individual who is able to relate well to both children and adults. This person must have the personality and ability to provide leadership and stability for program and continuity.   • Site Coordinator - PT - Dartmouth
    General Function:  Planning, development, and supervision of a school-age child care program site. The site coordinator must be on the premises during all hours of operation or until all children leave the program.

    Entry Requirements:This position requires reliability and commitment to the program, excellent communication and organizational skills, a thorough knowledge of state (EEC) and YMCA regulations and guidelines.  He/she must demonstrate sound, mature judgment.  He/she should have or be willing to develop a sound understanding of the YMCA’s history, purpose, philosophy & practices.   • YMCA Group & Assistant Group Leaders- PT - Fall River
    General Function:
      A Group Leader or Assistant Group Leader for the YMCA After School Program shall lead and supervise a designated group of children in various games, events, activities and programs in accordance with all of the Department of Early Education and Care standards and regulations.

    Qualifications:   Candidates must have skill and experience in the supervision and leading of a wide variety of recreational, educational and social activities.  Candidates must demonstrate previous experience in leadership with children aged 6 to 12, as well as mature judgment.  Effective communication with youth, parents and other staff is a must.  Six months experience in a licensed childcare program required.  We are looking for candidate 16 and older.

  • YMCA Assistant Toddler Teacher – PT – Mattapoisett
    General Requirements:  The candidate will be responsible for assisting the lead teacher in the general supervision and management of a class of children between the ages of 2.9 through 5 years old.  Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:  supervising the classroom with the lead teacher, maintaining a healthy and safe environment and treating all children with dignity and respect.

    Qualifications:  The candidate for this position must be able to adhere to of The Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) standards and regulations.  This person must have a warm and friendly personality, be sensitive to the feelings and needs of others and be able to relate well to children.  Candidates must be able to build and maintain positive relationships with children, parents and other staff members.  This position is 15 to 25 hours per week.

    General Requirements:     Candidate must have experience in a group setting and in curriculum development and implementation experience.  Must have a friendly and outgoing personality.  Candidate must also have the ability to supervise staff in a cooperative, collaborative manner.
     
    Qualifications:    All candidates must have EEC Director I Certification. 
    Candidates must also have knowledge and experience with NAEYC accreditation.  The director will work 30 hours per week following the school calendar.

  • Position:  SHARING THE HARVEST PROJECT COORDINATOR/FARMER

    Salary Range:  $16,000-$17,500 (Eight Month Position)

    Job Description:
    The Sharing the Harvest Community Farm Project is currently seeking a seasonal part-time farmer for the 2009 growing season. 

    The Sharing the Harvest Community Farm Project is a collaboration between the Dartmouth YMCA, United Way of Greater New Bedford, and the Hunger Commission of Southeastern Massachusetts (a program of United Way). 

    Sharing the Harvest is a community farm run by volunteers.  It was established in 2006 as a grassroots effort to alleviate hunger for children and families throughout the Southcoast region.  Through the efforts of more than 500 volunteers of all ages and abilities, thousands of children and families from Fall River to Wareham received over 15000lbs of produce in 2008.   

    The Dartmouth YMCA is currently seeking a part-time season farmer from March to Mid-November to serve as the key component of our unique farming operation.  The farmer is responsible to plan, cultivate, manage, and harvest the crops.  In addition the farmer should be comfortable with soils and fertilization in order to produce healthy plants.  Sharing the Harvest is proud of its culture in sustainability and alternate farming methods. 

    This position requires someone who enjoys working outdoors and has a background in farming, farm equipment, and planting.  He/She should be patient, persistent and self- motivated.  Flexibility and a practical approach to solving problems is useful.  Need to keep up with the latest in cultivation and harvesting methods. 

    Additionally, the farmer should be comfortable working with volunteers, building relationships, leading farming education and seeking potential donors.

  • Metacomet Day Camp Director – Seasonal – Dartmouth
    General Function:  Responsibilities include training, staff development and supervision, program and transportation management, and exemplary program delivery within a natural outdoor setting. Successful candidates must work within American Camping Association and Massachusetts Public Health standards.

    Entry Requirements:  Candidates must be an energetic, dedicated professional with a strong background in camping and leadership development. Experience in program curriculum, environmental and experiential education, and/or outdoor programming are a plus. A minimum of five years relevant camp experience or equivalent education and experience is required. Successful communication, supervisory and organizational skills are essential.
