Annual Scholarship Fund 2008

At YMCA Southcoast, our success is measured in the lives we touch.  Our Annual Scholarship Fund makes it possible for everyone in our community to benefit from YMCA programs and services.

The annual support campaign represents the largest share of our fundraising efforts each year, reaching out to our members, friends, businesses, and the community at large. These gifts make it possible to provide opportunities for children, families and individuals that build self-confidence, promote a healthy lifestyle, and develop positive values such as caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. 

Keeping the Promise

The funds raised through this community-wide effort enables the YMCA Southcoast keep the promise it makes to the community each year.  The promise is that no individual or family will be turned away from participating in the YMCA due to an inability to pay.  The promise embodies our core mission by providing financial support to those who simply cannot afford to pay for the YMCA experience.

Everyone Benefits

The truth is that everyone benefits from this promise, not only those who receive financial assistance.  The YMCA Southcoast is a very special place in our community, where people from all backgrounds interact on an even playing field.  Families with little to no resources swim and share the facility with CEO's of local corporations, and interrelate in a way that really does not happen anywhere else.  In this electronic age many of the traditional transactions involving face to face relations among people no longer exist.  In our classes and fitness centers, and at our camps, people of varied circumstances are brought together to learn about healthy lifestyles and to meet and enjoy relationships with each other.  These actual, as opposed to virtual, relationships are invaluable, and they help people, young and old, to experience and learn from one another.  This helps to build our community into one where people value each other and treat one another with respect.

Help Us Reach Our Goal

Help us reach our goal of $200,800 for the 2008 Annual Scholarship Fund.  Your gift provides youth and families with life-enriching activities and programs that may not exist for them otherwise.   100% of every dollar provides scholarship assistance to local children, teens, adults, seniors and families in need.  All donations and gifts to the YMCA Southcoast and to the Annual Scholarship Fund are 100% tax deductible.

Planned Giving

It takes a lasting legacy to secure the future of our community's youth. YMCA Southcoast's Endowment Program provides a permanent fund for long-term support of the YMCA by individuals and families who have remembered the Y in their estate planning.  Planned Giving offers many ways for friends of the Y to give, such as bequests, trusts, gifts of stock or the IRA Charitable Rollover.  For more information, please contact your personal financial adviser or the YMCA Development Office at 508-996-9622 Ext. 22.
