What is the Full Plate Project?

The Full Plate Project has grown to 124 distribution dates throughout the year across all YMCA Southcoast branches. Volunteers help pack the food in bags at the beginning of the week, and then these are delivered to each of the branches. On distribution dates, a team of Y employees and volunteers organize the distribution. Community members line up in their vehicles and wait for the start time, which varies by location. Food is distributed on a first-come-first-serve basis and continues until the food runs out. Community members provide basic demographic info including zip code, number of household children/adults/seniors, and number of household veterans. In 2022, 1,640,000 pounds of food was distributed to over 47,000 households, indicating a spike in community need. To check out the monthly Community Market Schedule CLICK HERE.
