Mask Policy Update
Effective August 2, 2021
Thank you for your loyalty and support throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Tuesday, July 27, 2021 updated its recommendations in the fight against COVID-19, urging everyone in areas of “high or substantial” COVID spread to wear masks indoors – even vaccinated people.
The CDC has classified all of Bristol County as an area of substantial transmission of the highly infectious coronavirus. Due to this guidance, all YMCA Southcoast branches will require indoor masking for staff, members, campers, and guests (regardless of vaccination status) starting on Monday, August 2, 2021.
Precautions will continue to be taken to ensure the health and safety of our members and staff at YMCA Southcoast branches:
- Clean and disinfect surfaces with increased effort and frequency
- Ensure anti-bacterial agents are available for member use
- Elevate staff awareness and establish clear guidelines so that staff can help members stay healthy
We will continue to follow the guidance of the CDC and Governor Baker on any updates to policies regarding COVID-19.
Thank you for your patience and support as we collectively take the necessary precaution to keep our YMCA family and loved ones safe.
We appreciate your support and flexibility as we safely navigate back to our role as the Southcoast’s community center for everyone. We have made these decisions based on what we believe is best for our membership overall. We recognize that change is challenging, and there may be more as we emerge from the pandemic.
