Gleason Family YMCA

CAMP NEP-IN-NAE

Camp Nep-In-Nae is located at the Gleason Family YMCA. We offer a wide variety of camp activities, with our main features being our outdoor and indoor swimming pools, outdoor high and low ropes course, indoor climbing wall, and full-size gymnasium.

Camp Nep-in-Nae provides a traditional outdoor summer camp experience with our woods-based camp, recently updated archery range, hiking trails, and storybook trail for our youngest campers. We have a greater focus on specialty camps than ever before, providing campers an opportunity to share their passion and build relationships with staff and other campers.

BEHIND THE NAME

“Wampanoag” is defined as “People of the Dawn,” which alludes to how living on the eastern coast made them the first people to see the sunrise every morning. Wareham’s native name is “Nepinnae Kekit”, which translates to “summer home.” Historically, Wampanoag people lived in this area during the summer months to fish and have access to waterways, and it remains a part of Wareham culture, as it is used on the town seal along with an image of a Wampanoag canoe.
